Tesla's ashes

Well it's all been a bit busy really and when I finally did post the computer crashed!!!! Anyway I'm still in Valivo for another week learning a bit of Serbian. I'm in Belgrade today and have gone to the Tesla Museam. Tesla being the guy who invented the electric motor and is also incidently a Serb. The odd thing is they keep his ashes in the museam .

My very own room

So I get to Valevo, Serbia and get assigned a host family, and a roommate Kristos from Greece. But, .. somethings up with Kristos he wanders off by himself that night and the next day he just does a runner, so now I got my very own room!! I'm slooowwwwly figuring out how to speak to my host family who speak very little English. Communication is very experating but they're very enthusiastic , which I'll be thankful for in the long run.... I think I've seen all the photos and all the family .... we'll see.

Actually, I think I got pretty lucky with the family, some of the other students come round to see my hosts??, I get lots of food, and they take me places ... a club on Sat night and swimming today, ahh if only class was that easy.

Valevo

S Hi all got to be quick here as internet is slow and there's a line! Budapest was all good, coffe in the Central Kavehauz and a big soak in the big ol baths they have, think Communist era Spa. After about 12 hours of travelling (30 min sleep) I finally got to Valevo. Cards are working now but internet banking isn't, lucky everything is so cheap!! Will, post again when I get time. P.S Prob no emails for awhile.

Flight delayed

And here I was worried that "Wizzair" meant the pilots didn't get any sleep. 5 hours delayed in a budget airline airport. So how to waste 5 hours.
>Coffee, read Lonely Planet
>Coffee, trial men's fragrances on bits of paper
>Free coffee and pastry, buy suduko, do 2 puzzles
>Choose men's fragrance to wear for day
>Coffee, buy newspaper ironic phrase of the day "Irish American Activist" (see para 12 of this)

Ahhh but I got a cheap bed and today will be grand ...... (more later)

P.S Cheers Clint for helping me tidy up my links

Ahhh I´m lost!!

Well after 3 straight days in Zaragoza I´ve got very little done, largely due to every single day hitting at least 40C. The air conditioned internet shop being the best place to escape to.

Anyway for those who know me, I´m prone to walking untill I get lost. Well I´m lost!! Luckly google knows where I am and I´m back on track.

P.S To be exact I´m here:

Oh and I still don´t have a camera

Aha!!!! Otro noche mas!

Finally, my Spanish is improving. Got my first compliment today. I was trying to ask is there a single available today and if not can I get a discount, cos yesterday your wife let me pay only 20 euros. Obviously, starting "your wife" was a bad idea, the man looking confused and unhelpful. Luckly, a bit later his sister (or wife but not the women I´d arranged things with yesterday?) came out we had a communication of sorts and I paid the 20. At this piont she said (I´m guessing at some of this) that for a little spanish I´m doing very well. So, almost a pity I´m leaving. Well, today I think I´m finally going to bit the bullet and buy another camera.

Bull Run

Right so the run itself!! I did it on the second day. The shear number of people on the course makes you feel like you´ve very little control over your own safety i.e. if the bulls behind you and there´s people in front. Also, the bulls run fast. Luckly, they´re not too interested in people unless they fall over, get confused or (surprise, surprise) you hit them on the head!!!

The real highlight of the run is the people tho, knowing that what they´re doing is neither rationally nor intuitively safe everyone is terrified. You get a lump in your throat, some wear a wide grimce, fidget and jump, go deathly white and one guy even spewed when the bull fell over beside him! When you add the bulls you feel like your in a horror or disaster film!

Well opening day of San Fermin was packed and messy. See pic. Also, did the Bull Run and survived with only a small scrape but more about that later.

Smelly Pilgrims

In Pamplona now, luckly got my very own room for tonight. So, no more sharing with stinky pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago!! Highlight of Bilbao is the Guggenheim see pic). The Spainish sure are keen on their modern architecture.

P.S Those who know me will know how hard I´m resisting the urge to launch into a massive rant on collective punishment and Israel´s 9,800 (inc 300 children) prisoners Vs Hamas´s One.

Barcelonia

Hi all,

Just in case in of you lot are wondering where I am and want to track me down in Europe here´s my blog .... I´m going to try my best to keep it updated, promise.

Am in Spain now, all is going well ...... apart from language difficulties with bus dirivers, think wrong bus, missed bus etc. Had a great time in Barcelonia at the Festival of Saint Juan with Reginald and Yoko (see pic, I´m the one with the healthy white glow) ..... apart from getting lost on the way back from the beach and not getting home till 7am instead of 5:30 oh well.

I´m heading to Pamplona tomorrow to practice my Spanish e.g "Por favor, grande cervesa" hehe.
